Hi friends, I'm currently facing an issue where there are period grey rectangles that flicker past my screen at random intervals. Here's a video that showcases it:
View: https://youtu.be/1E459F0ZVEU
. Sometimes the screen flickers off as well after the grey squares. Not sure if this is relevant but there's a "click" sound that happens after the flickering.

My current build is this:

RTX 4090

Samsung G8 Odyssey (S32DG80)

AMD 7800x3d

MSI x670E Tomahawk

I'm using a DP 2.1 port from my 4090 to the G8 Odyssey, which is currently displaying at resolution 3840 x 2160 at 240Hz. I have GSync enabled and VRR when this was flickering.
I'm on firmware version v1301 (for Canada).

I've tried:

  1. Disabling the integrated GPU on AMD 7800x3D via the BIOS
  2. Toggling Gsync on and off
  3. Restarting my computer again
I've researched into possible causes, like DSC or faulty hardware, but

at this moment, I'm a bit confused as to why this issue might be cropping up and wanted to get some help.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What BIOS version are you currently on for your motherboard? You forgot to mention the make and model of your PSU. f the unit is recycled from an older build, please mention it's age and what it powered during it's tenure.

Use DDU to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) from your platform in Safe Mode, then manually install the latest GPU driver sourced from Nvidia's support site in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.

Not sure if this is relevant but there's a "click" sound that happens after the flickering.
Can you narrow down where the click is coming from? The speakers or from somewhere in the back of your monitor or inside you case?

For the make and model of PSU, it's currently a Corsair RM1000e, and it's a relatively new build (IE a couple of months old).

BIOS should be the latest as I've flashed it so I'll put it as `7E16v193`, but let me reboot into bios and check again with an update.

I'll use the DDU installer utility and report back.

As for the "click" sound, it does sound like it's coming from the monitor's speakers and not the motherboard.

Those seem like display stream compression artifacts.
Either lower refresh rate or get a new video signal cable - having appropriate signal quality certifications.
Note - longer cables will have more problems with signal quality. You may want to get a shorter cable.

Monitor and gpu supported video connections are:
DP version 1.4.
HDMI version 2.1.
