Question Grounding without anti-static strap ?

What is the best to way to ground myself when cleaning inside of my PC?

This is what I currently do:

  1. Turn off PC
  2. Disconnect power cable from power supply
  3. Touch back of power supply
  4. Open case and clean with either compressed air or rocket blower (and Q-tips for stubborn dirt)

Reviewing these steps, I'm wondering if I should be touching the power supply with the power cable connected (with the PSU switched on but PC off).

This seem okay?

so long as you discharge any static it does not matter what you touch. inside of the case works fine, the psu plugged in or not, a doorknob nearby or whatever.

i've never used a strap and never had an issue with over 30 years working inside pc's. just ground yourself and don't dance around in wool socks on carpet as you work and it'll be fine :)

Thanks for the quick reply :)

Touching the PSU should discharge any static, right? If so, do I touch the PSU with it switched on and power cable attached (but PC switched off)?
