Good evening,

I'm trying to stop Windows from automatically restarting after Windows updates even if it's during non active hours. And from what I read online the way to do it is via gpedit.msc

So I apply the changes to the group policies.

But despite applying the changes, doing a gpupdate /force and several reboots I still don't get the message that tells me group policies have been applied:

This is what i'm supposed to see (Image from Google):

Does anybody have an idea why Group Policies don't seem to be applying?

Thanks

As I understand the third image you do not have the necessary administrative rights to make the changes.

Are you logged in with Administrative rights?

Is the computer your personal device or does the computer belong to your employer or someone else?

I ran gpedit.msc as admin. The computer is mine.

As specified in the OP, the third image is from Google to show you what I should be seeing. The first 2 images are mine.

These are the instructions that I followed to try to stop Windows from forcing reboot after an update.

So you are not seeing the third window as expected - correct? (Reference Step 6 of the procedure.)

(Apologies - I misunderstood the 3rd link.)

Work through the reconfiguration process again - just take your time and read everything carefully.

Double-check each change that you make and that all other options are correctly set per the screens shown.

Be sure to click "OK" at the end of Step 3. Not "Apply".

If not successful, then look for other similar procedures.

For example:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-updates/b0efbe53-b1ca-43e6-b092-b899ad4bcb5d

Details matter and some of the procedures I noted seemed out of date. And differing windows as well.....

And do stay out of the Registry. Registry edits are a last resort and should only be attempted after a full system backup - including the Registry itself.

Also, this thread is in the Windows 11 category so someone else may respond and provide additional ideas and suggestions.

Or another link or two showing the correct procedure to follow.

I appreciate your help although following through the procedure again (Which I did several times) and selecting ''Ok'' instead of ''Apply'' is completely unnecessary as the end result is the same. The option is activated.

But I would like to add that the change has worked as I was notified today of new updates that Windows is waiting for me to install. So although I do not have the message that says ''Some settings are managed by the organization'' the changes have taken effect.

Thanks for your assistance! We can close this topic.
