Hi All,
What is the best way to migrate all my group policies from W2K domain to
W2K3 domain other than using the gpolmig.exe tool from NT4.
Can I use ADMTv2 and if so how.
Thanks

Is there no other way as we have upgraded our domain to 2003 but are
left with 2000 policies. Is there any documentation for this procedure
and is the functionality still available within GPMC sp1.

Cheers

Stu

Use the GPMC on a XP Client to export the 2K GPOs and import
it on the 2003 AD. With the MTE (migration tabel editor) you can
edit the security groups that are existing in the old domain
and giving them the new name.

Hi,

You won’t want to migrate any of your Default Domain or Default
Domain Controller policies because of Domain specific info. However,
for GP’s you have created, download the Group Policy Management
Console (GPMC). While it can’t install on the 2000 DC, it can
install on an XP machine running adminpak.msi and part of the 2000
Domain. You can then back up all the GP’s and should be able to
restore them onto your Windows 2003 DC using the GPMC.

Cheers,

Lara

I don’t know what you mean by 2000 policies? There is really no such
thing as Group Policies are Group Policies. Windows 2000 machines can
have the newest Windows 2003 Group Policy ADM’s installed as they
are the same as the 2000 ones with just more to support XP SP2 and
2003 SP1.

If you are running Windows 2003 then you just may need to upgrade to
the newest to include Windows XP SP2 policies. You can download the
newest ADM’s here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=92759d4b-7112-4b6c-ad4a-bbf3802a5c9b&DisplayLang=en
or simply copy them from any Windows XP machine running SP2 from the
C:Windowsinf folder. Copy to the C:Windowsinf (or Winntinf
folder on all the DC’s)
