Gsync vs 144hz vs Gsync 144hz?

Solution
Gsync helps with variable refresh rates so yes it will give a smoother experience.

With Vsync off, your FPS in many games will bounce around depending on game of course, it could bounce from 30FPS right up to 100+ and back or in the middle bla bla you get the idea. A monitor with just 144Hz will help smooth out a lot of it but it will still tear.

Then you enable Vsync on a non Gsync monitor to stop screen tear, you'll get fixed refresh rates depending on your game. on a 144Hz panel the next drop in Hz is half, so the refresh will dramatically change from 144Hz down to 72Hz then again to 36Hz if you couldn't sustain 72FPS.

With Gsync, its variable Hz so what ever FPS your GPU is producing is what you will see on screen.

So yes Gsync is worth it.

is gsync comparable to one 44 hz though? sorry my keyboard is messed up. is the smoothness better on gsync or one44hz

Gsync is a form of Vsync residing inside the monitor as a chip the GPU communicates with without the input lag you would find having Vsync on in Graphics settings. With Gsync you can leave Vsync off and have smooth playback from 30Hz right up to 144Hz and all in between, even if the game fluctuates madly, you will not nearly see it as much as you would with a normal 144Hz monitor.

Sorry is that what you were asking?

It's the in between

It depends on whether or not your GPU can sustain 144 FPS in games, as the effects of G-sync are most noticeable between 30~60fps, but less so between 60~144.

You could always go the best of both worlds and get a 144hz G-sync monitor, so that if the frame-rate does hit below 60fps, it won't look terrible.

Didn't mean to pick as the best solution. The reason I'm asking is because I currently have 3 1080p 144hz monitors. I am debating to switch to a curved ultrawide Gsync monitor, but wondering if it would even feel as smooth as 144hz monitors. I know the performance would be much much better on a single 1440p monitor, but I'd be willing to turn settings down at 5760x1080p in order to feel the 144hz effect. Or should I just wait for an IPS 144hz curved ultrawide 1440p gsync monitor and get everything? I think that may be the best choice but when will a monitor like this come out, and if and when it does how much would it cost lol.

The only 144Hz monitor available in IPS @ 1440p with Gsync at the moment is the Acer Predator 27". I'd wait for your curved displays, they shouldn't take too long.

There is no point getting Gsync in a monitor that is capped at 60Hz like the 4k monitors with Gsync. People are noticing input lag even with Gsync, even though Gsync 'Should' give a laggless smooth experience from 30 to 60Hz, the optimum range is 30 to 144Hz to make it worth while. Simple fact, your games even at 4k will jump over 60fps anyway, then what? The GPU is still displaying more frames than the display hence the lag. People have found ways to reduce lag by capping the FPS to 1Hz lower than the refresh rate ie 59FPS in CSGO and have admited its pointless having Gsync with maximum refresh of 60Hz.

Gsync isn't just about eliminating screen tearing.
