I have a

i5 7300HQ
GTX 1050 4GB
4GB RAM
1TB HDD

and gta 5 was running great at the start of the game I was getting around 60 fps vsync on and high settings but then when I was at the part where I was driving a car at the city it drops down to 60 to 20 then back to 45 fps so I lowered the setting to the lowest possible and got around 80 to 90 but after just 1 minute it drooped down to 15 to 45 fps I dont understand I should be able to dun the game with my current specs even at its lowest is it because of the 4gb ram do I need to upgrade?

Solution

Yep, that is why I said it in my first post.

Why would the hard drive be the issue? I see a lot of people playing the game in an hdd also even at the lowest possible setting my cpu should at least be able to hold up since it passed the minimum requirement. Would upgrading the ram help?

Have you tried playing it on SSD?

Then would upgrading the ram to 8GB help?

Thank I will try to upgrade my ram to 8GB as soon as possible

Solution

Because a lot of times you get stutter because the game loads textures from the drive to the GPU,while this happens the GPU has to stop rendering so the faster this happens the less drops you will have.

For GTA V though the problem lies with the game itself, the main thread is set up in a way that sabotages the other threads.
This is fixable but rockstar is pretty fast with the ban hammer so use at your own risk.
