Gta 5 mods

Hey i have gta 5 and j would like to download some mods and i know this is kinda dumb but i was wondering if downloading mods will slow down or damage my pc. I know that the more storage you have used the slower your pc gets and i know that mods can affect the gta’s performance inside the game. But i was only wondering will it damage or slow down the computer itself
