GTA 5 MSAA Problem

So, I'm having some problems running gta 5. When It came out, It ran butter smooth with most of the settings being high / very high with msaa x2, almost always stable 60 fps. But after the first couple of days, It didnt run good anymore. Now when msaa is on x2, the game starts to become very choppy, jumping up and down 30 - 60 fps. It really bothers me because the fps is extremely unstable now and i have no idea why. And when i set msaa off gta 5 doesnt lagg at all and doesnt drop below 60 fps. Like i said it ran fine the first few days with msaa 2x but then suddenly this changed. Is it because of my pc build or what's going on here?
Here's my specs:

GPU: MSI Radeon r9 280
CPU: Intel i5 4690
RAM: Kingston 8gb

I'm assuming you have the textures on high/ultra?
That alone will almost max out your 3GB VRAM, and MSAA adds to that, what does the VRAM usage bar say at the top of the settings page?

Yes, the texture quality is on very high, and the VRAM usage says 2034MB
