GTA 5 Rockstar to Steam file transfer

Hello,
I am going to buy gta 5 steam version. One of my friend plays the rockstar version of gta 5. As the download is huge, can i copy the rockstar version from his computer and keep it in the steam version folder of my pc and then play the game?

Im sure you can, but this could cause many problems. Safer just to download it

copy over, verify integrity of game cache, if files are identical, you save on downloads, if not, they are downloaded.
or in step by step basis:
run steam
start installation of steam version of gta5 (creates folders and all that)
pause/stop download
exit steam
copy rockstar version to where steam version is
run steam
verify integrity of local game cache
wait for it to finish
