Hello guys

as many of you experience or experienced the lag issues on GTA IV for PC my question is how did any of you fix them?

My computer specs are:

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k 3,4 GHz
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 660 Ti Power Edition 2GD5/OC
MOTHERBOARD: Asus Sabertooth z77
SSD: Crucial M4 128 GB
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB (7200 RPM, 64 MB)
MONITOR: LG IPS237L
KEYBOARD: Logitech G110 Gaming Keyboard
MOUSE: Logitech Performance MX

if you need any other information regarding my specifications just ask, all the rest of the specs seem irrelevant to me.

GTA IV was a pretty bad port from console to PC, so I would expect lag issues. It seems strange in your situation, as you do have quite a powerful card. Is your PC sufficiently cooled? Are you using new drivers? A quick fix could just be to go into Task Manager (right click the toolbar below, and click Task Manager) and end unwanted programs by right clicking on each task, and clicking 'End Task'. Try to close all browsers and other unused programs, I find they can slow up my games.

I tried all of these things already bro, and yeah it's really frustrating to see how even big companies like Rockstar port the console version of their game to PC...

I have the original game btw, the original copy so not downloaded through torrents etc. My computer is adware/spyware/virus free and I hardly ever run any other programs/software when gaming so I don't see the problem other than the game was badly coded. But what's up with those people on YouTube running GTA IV "perfectly" on a Pentium 4?

I suppose that the game was optimized for more basic tech, as it was released on console first. Perhaps the Pentium 4 was closer to the Xbox 360 and PS3 architecture than to your i5. I completely agree on the laziness of Rockstar's porting. But hey, GTA 5 is supposed to be coming to PC, I guess we just have to hope that won't be a shoddy port.

I know this is an old post, but I also had this problem. Also have the G110 and I experienced the "stuck/frozen key" syndrome while troubleshooting GTA IV for the lag issues and I unplugged the keyboard. Right after unplugging it the game shot up to 60 fps. Tried plugging it back again and the game dropped to the 10-13fps I was experiencing since game installation. I'm running GTA IV on Steam, btw. The G110 is notorious for getting "stuck" while the Steam client is open.
