Gta v fps issues

Hey guys I recently purchased gta v and have had a little bit of lag causing fps issues and have consulted others with the same graphics card and they manage to reach 70fps on high-ultra settings where I am getting only 20-30 fps!
I'm running a nvidia gtx 770 2gb gpu
With 8gb of ram
And a Intel core 2 quad q6600 @ 2.4ghz also the whole game is installed to ssd drive on windows 7 professional (64 bit)
Also when I am running gta v my cpu usage is at 100% even on lowest graphics!

So my question is will my recently purchased i7 2600 @ 3.4ghz if installed into my computer and an extra 8gb of ram on top of the original 8gb make a difference to gameplay and give me them high fps scores?

Upgrading to an i7 2600 would definitely help your performance a lot, GTA V is very CPU heavy, and my 770 is held back by my older i5 most of the time in that game. Be advised that you will need a new motherboard, and new RAM most likely to upgrade your CPU, the i7 2600 will not fit on your motherboard, and unless you have one of the most recent LGA775 boards, you won't have DDR3 RAM which the i7 2600 needs.

8GB of RAM is enough to run GTA V fine, you probably don't need to go up to 16GB unless you plan on running a lot of stuff in the background while you're playing.

Thank you for the reply, this question was asked quite a while ago and since then I have upgraded to the i7 2600 and as you said I needed to replace the motherboard and ram as well and I went with 16gb as I had a good deal on 2x8gb Kingston fury chips so I have room to add more later on! In response to your answer you are spot on! (Give an award to this guy! Lol) many of my pic gaming friends said the cpu was not the issue as the gpu is more important but I suggested a possible bottleneck situation which was laughed off! But it worked definitely! Easily 60fps on very high settings and only around 48 and lower on ultra without advanced settings but I prefer a constant 60fps for full imersion. I then upgraded to a limited edition msi gtx 970 gaming green which looks beautiful with my black and green colour scheme but unfortunately for me didn't seem worth the upgrade as all I really gained in gta v setting was maxing the advanced settings but still can't get ultra with 60fps so not worth £300 for me lol
