Hello, I'm having this issue with GTA V, as the title says, it runs at about 40/50 fps and sometimes it drops even to 20 or so, both in story and multiplayer, I'm not pretending to have thousands of fps but at least 60 stable since the config doesn't suck that much (I think). Drivers are all updated and temps are ok too. So what am I supposed to do?

Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming
AMD FX8350 @ 4.20GHz (with AIO cooling)
RX 480 MSI Gaming x 4GB
16GB ram
EVGA G2 650W
AOC G2460V 75Hz Freesync

It is running on an HDD actually, but I've tried on SSD and there's no difference

In game settings:

1920x1080 75hz with freesync (even at 60 w/o it is the same)

DX 11 (obv)
FXAA: On
MSAA: Off
VSync: Off

Texture: High
Shader: High
Shadow: High
Reflection: High
Reflection MSAA: Off
Water: Normal
Particles: Normal
Grass: Normal
Soft Shadows: Soft
Post FX: Normal
Anisotropic Filtering; x2
Ambiet Occlusion: Normal
Tessellation: Normal

On advanced graphics everything is off

Thanks for your help :)

In my opinion your problem lies with your processor. It's older, but not too old for that game. Try turning your particles down. I used to run GTA V on a FX 6300 and when I went to my i5 6500 my performance dramatically became more stable.

I ran GTA V on my 480 and now my 480s just fine at high settings. So my guess is that it lies in your CPU/RAM.

Another possible problem could be (and I may be completely wrong if you're a strong OCer) an unstable overclock. If you're running at 4.2Ghz it may possibly be unstable, and therefore causing drops. If this defiantly isn't the case, disregard this.

Thanks for your answer, I tried to set everything in normal and the problem is still there, there's a change of about 5fps avg but i keep getting the frame drops. I really have no idea about what could it be

CPU is running fine, stress test for hours and no problems, I didn't even OC it, it's the turbo mode which goes from 4.0 to 4.2Ghz

The thing that stressed me out is that on yt there are a lot of videos with this config running fine
