GTA V map areas missing in story mode.

Upon recently starting up story mode I noticed a lot of the map areas are missing or greyed out.
I've just started online mode for the first time and seemed to happen in conjunction with this.
I haven't finished story mode and this has really spoiled it, it definitely seems like a bug..

Is there a known fix? I loaded my only other save which is quite old and the map returned so it's only affecting my current save.

I'm confused... can you actually reach these areas in the game - are they just greyed out on the map?

If it's bothering you that they're greyed out on the map then hop in a plane or helicopter and do a tour of the island - it'll uncover the map quickly and you can carry on as normal. Doesn't sound like a bug, from how you've described it.

Yes I can reach the areas and yes they are just greyed out. Flying a plane around uncovers bits but very slowly. Everything was fine with my map until I ran online mode for the first time.

Hmm, maybe it just reset but as long as that's all it is... I get that it's annoying... but flying around in a plane will uncover it a lot faster than driving the whole map again.

Yes I think it has somewhat reset, unfortunately flying around doesn't permanently uncover the areas again

I've set up a ticket with Rockstar to see if there is a fix, it's a pain though, my story mode has been enjoyable up till now, I've only got two missions to finish the game and now my maps screwed I just don't want to finish my game off like this.
