GTA V start new game steam version.

I want to start a new game. Can I just delete my profile folder and go from there? Does this have any affect on my created online character?

I would just backup the whole profile regardless. Just go to drive C: then look for your windows user name then \Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\Profiles\ and copy that folder to the desktop or something then start a new game. If it doesn't mess with your online saves, then your good. If it does, you are still good, just copy that file back to the same original location. In fact, you might want to copy the whole GTA V main folder. In that last folder "profiles" there should be two sub-folders. I'm guessing one is the SP campaign profile and the other the MP online profile. On mine, though, they are random letters and numbers so I can't tell which is which.

Yeah I did back up the original profiles folder. I've started a new game, haven't checked to see whether online character is still available yet.. My GTA main folder
only had a Benchmarks, User Music, Videos, launcher, settings folders and files. My profiles folder didn't have any sub folders only files..

I'm guessing any unlocked Steam achievements from the last play through stay unlocked?

In the new game if I press alt for character selection my online character's not there so maybe it's profile is in the profiles folder I backed up?
Does the Documents\Rockstar\Social Club folder contain anything profile related? I left the original one there.

Well switched to online mode and my character was able to be imported so maybe the online profiles are cloud based unless it's the Documents\Rockstar\Social Club folder that contains those profiles..

That's good. Enjoy the game. BTW, since you are doing a new play-through, check out these stock market tips - http://www.ign.com/wikis/gta-5/Assassination_Investor I made all 3 characters many millions by buying the stocks they tell you to buy and when. You have to wait a few days after you buy to see the most profit. But if you wait too long it will start to go down so I create 2 or 3 saves when I do it. Just keep going to sleep and then check your phone over and over until you max out the profit, then switch to the next guy and buy.

NP. Actually, on that last part about switching characters, scratch that. You need to buy the stocks for every guy at the same time and then sell at the same time because the time goes forward for all of them. You only have to do the sleep, save, check phone thing with one character.

Not that I know of. That is probably because when you do the Lester missions, you are controlling the prices of those stocks. Before you start those missions, anything you buy is going to go up and down randomly so there is no way to tell what will happen. The way to make the most, though, is to finish the main story so every player starts off rich from stealing all the gold from the UD. You can also do a bunch of side missions to get even more money. If you do, you should end up with more than a billion for each guy. Then, dp the Lester missions. After that, buy a bunch of property, pretty much all of them, and every gun at ammunation. It is pretty much like an unlimited money cheat code except it is 100% legit.
