Join the club of the Nvidia GTS 250 Disappointed and Almost Neurotic Users, mine has been doing that randomly once a day in any game I play.

First please post all your PC's specs.

Then use GPU-Z to keep a track of your GPU's temperatures, and go play, whenever the thing crashes post the temp log that the program creates just to see if it is a heat issue.

Also check if the GPU is properly connected to the PSU and if it's well fit into the PCIe slot on the motherboard or if the fans work properly and are not obstructed by any cable.

A partial solution could be using EVGA's Precision Tool to manipulate the fan speeds of the GPU, you may set it to 80-100% prior any gaming activity and try to play for a while.

If nothing works out after doing what cefvil said, then change your PSU to a good 80+ brand like Corsai, PC P&C, Seasonic, OCZ, Antec earthwatts or cooler master REAL POWER (not extreme power). a 450W unit should be enough from any of these manufacturers.

Topower is a tier 5 unit on this list of psu's:

As games enter 3d mode, they draw more power. I suspect that your psu is not that capable. See if you can test your system with a quality psu.

I've never heard of that brand before, personally I'd check the PSU before blaming the GPU. the GTS needs 600w recomended and a 12v @24a if I'm not mistaken, it's quite probable that the PSU can't output that and it's causing the computer to crash when underload.
