I have an issue whereby I'm experiencing stutters while playing bf1 and pubg on med settings at 1080p. I have no issues running rainbow six siege and monster hunter world. i was wondering if it was due to insufficient ram or no ssd installed or maybe the graphics card itself...

My PC is a prebuilt one from Lenovo and it's specs are: i7-7700, GTX 1060 3gb, 8gb ram , 2TB HDD.

Solution
it has nothing to do with the temperature. It just seems like you system is just not quite up to run the games stutter free. that can be a combination off a lot. but it seems its your ram. you overclocked the graphics card, but that only makes the graphics calculations faster, if the game has to load and off load information into your ram constantly that might create the bottleneck that causes the stutters. There is a reason why EA recommend 16GB ram for the battlefield games.
BF1 is known to cause stuttering with only 8gb of system RAM, it will use more if you have it.

3gb of VRAM may also be an issue in bf1. You may want to turn on the GPU memory restriction setting if it isn't already on. Make sure you are using DX11 mode.

Prebuilt PC's especially from large companies like lenovo tend to come with tons of bloatware installed, which can hurt performance if there's enough of it and it's using enough resources.

PUBG is a mixed bag and still doesn't run all that well or consistently in general. So im not sure what you can do if anything to make that game run smoothly on your system.

Well, that could be many reasons. But my first guess for micro stutters would be the fact that its not installed on an SSD. Some modern game might stutter a little when the have to load textures etc from a HDD. What is your avg. frame rate? do the stutters happen while having a decent frame rate? Furthermore, BF1 likes a lot of CPU cores, threads and SYSTEM RAM. I don't have experience with PUBG. 3GB video ram is usually ok for most 1080p gaming, but for some games it might just not be enough for the perfect experience.

@Dunlop0078 i did remove the restriction on gpu memory usage and using dx11, but there's still stutters

@mjbn1977 avg fps is about 45-50 and it stutters suddenly
whenever regardless of framerates framerates

I said turn it on not remove it. I doubt that's going to solve your issue however, might help a bit.

What is RAM usage in task manager when sitting at the desktop with nothing open besides what launches at startup?

reduce the texture quality further in BF1 and see if that fixes it. Again, textures fill video ram and also need to stream/load from the HDD. SSDs load about 15 to 25 times faster than HDDs and that can cause the stuttering if you load a lot of texture info from HDD.

@Dunlop0078 27% at startup and 33% when idling with steam/discord running in the system tray. Razer synapse, Java, anti virus, 1 printer app, cyberlink media library services and the sound system software launches at startup.

In that case your ram is running in single channel. The investment in another 8GB dim (make sure its the same, or at least the same specs) and install it into the correct ram slot to get dual channel mode would be the first, cheapest and easiest step to tackle your problem. 16GB ram will definitely do you good down the road. You don't want a new pair. You just want to add an 8GB dim, same manufacturer, type, specs, to your system. If you don't find one, then you have to go with a 2x8GB kit (not 1x16GB!!)

Next you want to think about a SSD eventually. This will overall improve the loading speed (programs, games, files, OS) of your computer significantly. SSD is the best upgrade for any PC.

Not strictly true, many builders buy the 2x? kits because they are guaranteed to work together.
Just buying a single match stick adds to troubleshooting headaches if it doesn't work.

Yeah, I said it has to be from the same manufacturer and the same specs. then it will work. Otherwise he has to go for 2x8GB kit to assure to make dual channel work. But if he can find the same dim online he can save some money.

I tried to overclock my GPU with core clock at +150Mhz and memory clock at +500Mhz, there were lesser stutters if not none sometimes, do I really need to get a new set or RAMs?

no, you don't need it. if there are less stutters, ok. But especially BF is recommended to be played with 16GB (I believe 12GB for for V). Therefore, if you can change your system/ or upgrade to 16GB that would make your life easier. But you don't have to.

Alright. I also tried PUBG on low settings at 1080p but there were stutters here and there, I'm not sure why either... :x my GPU temps never reached the max operable temperature when gaming.
