hello guys. So i have around 250$ dollars. I was wondering if i should get a gtx 1050 ti or a gtx 1060 3b. I know the 1060 tend to be more expensive but i found a refurbished one for 180 ish and one for 200 ish. My power supply is 300 w right now, i was thinking of upgrading it to 600w. If i were to get 1060 3gb, i heard something about 6 or 8 pins connectors or smth like that could someone explain that as well xD.

Solution
That power supply is alright. Not the best but it will do the job just fine since the wattage is more than sufficient.

I think you can find a better GTX 1050 Ti than the one you showed me. It's got dual fans but it's cheaper than other options with single fans. I looked around that website of yours, I would suggest this one:

Better clock speed, and it's actually cheaper since there's 15$ mail-in rebate.

Good choice on taking the time to deep clean the inside (remember, no water). If you need liquid to clean stubborn parts, only use 100% pure alcohol and make sure you use a cloth and unplug everything. You can buy it at any pharmacy. Let it dry before...
An additional 6 or 8 pin connector is a PCI-e cord that runs from the power supply unit to the GPU.

If you are going to run a 1060, I would recommend upgrading the power supply. 300W is kind of low. I'm not saying you need a 600W supply, but I would consider at least a 450W

Thank you so much for the recommendation. I am wondering is it safe to get the superclocked version, like will it bust or heat up too much or anything, and the psu that u recommened comes with the 6 pin thng i need for the 1060 right

Yes you will be fine as long as your case provides adequate cooling, should stay at safe temperatures. The power supply does have the 6 ping connector cable as well for the 1060.

Yes the PSU does have the connector you need, and as far as the GPU he recommended, go with it. That's a great price for a solid card for what you are looking for. You will not need to worry about anything. If you do get concerned, you can download the EVGA PrecisionX software and change the fan curves to a more aggressive curve which makes the fan spin faster to prevent the card from getting as hot.

so i opened up the pc case, and saw that in the gpu slot there was nothing there. I believe that maybe because currently i have a integrated hd 4600 graphics card. above the gpu slot there was something there with a fan, and another fan to the side, so two fans in there. would those two fans be enough to stop the gpu from overheating?

would this power supply be good for 1060 3gb as well

It would help us to know your full build including any fans or LED strips to recommend the Power Supply. But like Kashimi said, a 450w should be sufficient.

I personally run a R7 2700X, GTX 1060 6Gb, Asus ROG B450f Gaming board, 5 LED Ring fans, Kraken M22 water cooling, gaming mice and keyboard with LED. --> I have a 520w PSU from Seasonic. I should be using about 400-450w of usage so am completely fine. If I can recommend a change in that Corsair PSU choice though, I'd go for the CXM grey unit instead of the CX. Slightly pricier but please don't go cheap on power supply. You don't want to fry your rig.

As for the GPU, the 1060 3Gb is an obvious choice above the 1050 Ti. However, the 1050 Ti may be more advantageous in some gaming situations since it does have 4Gb of VRAM. You might not be able to get a video qualoty as high as the 1060 on certain games but it may provide a more seemless experience due to the larger VRAM size. If you're on a budget, I would recommend going for the 1050 Ti. Specially since it will be new and not refurbished, therefore with a longer warranty. The 1060 however will be more ideal for the long term as ofc it's more recent.

One more thing, when building a gaming rig. Always go at the very least for a power supply that's at least Bronze certified.

It seems like you really want to go cheap on the power supply. But rather go for the 1050Ti and get a decent PSU.

P.S: The whole 6-8 Pin connector thing, every PSU will provide one so you're fine

That power supply is fine.

i am new to tomshardware, but is there any way to upload photos here. I have photos of inside my pc that i really cant understand that much but i think u could

I don't know @Kashimi, wouldn't you recommend something that's 80+ bronze or at least 80+? 600w and above is overkill anyways. I'd personally suggest going for a lower wattage but high quality.

That looks like a very old case. The GPU will definitely fit without a problem, but you might be experiencing temperatures at around 75-80 degrees celsius while gaming because the airflow doesn't seem that great on that case.

If you can, I would suggest upgrading your case to something more airflow-friendly and preferably with some dust filters as I also noticed that it's pretty dusty in there. You might want to check out the Phanteks P300 at 59$ or probably a cheaper model from Corsair at about 40$ like The Carbide/Spec series. I would personally even suggest dropping down to the GTX 1050Ti and use the extra money for the case (better to have a 1050Ti for 3-4 years than a 1060 for only 2-3 years), but that's up to you.

If you can't or don't want to buy a new case, I really suggest you take some time to carefully clean everything, fans, corners, outside, etc... as all of these things will affect airflow.

Also, can you tell me more about that fan that's on your CPU? It doesn't seem to be mounted properly.

The fan i assume was like that when we bought the desktop from best buy. And it seems that i will have to go with the 1050 ti . I would like to keep this case as money is short now so, i can get away with it by cleaning my case thoroughly right.
