GTX 1060 6GB vs R9 390

They're the same price at my local bestbuy right now, $250. Also, would paying the extra $150 be worth it for a 1070

What is your monitor resolution & refresh rate? Between the R9 390 & GTX 1060 6gb I would go with the 1060, however if you are gaming @1080P/144hz or a higher resolution I would pay the extra for the 1070. Also get a version with aftermarket cooling (non-reference) as it will run cooler and might be factory overclocked. I believe most Best Buy's carry the EVGA ACX version.

They are roughly the same, although the 1060 has many advantages such as:

1. Lower Power Draw
2. More and Better Driver Updates
3. Newer
4. Cheaper Partner Cards

If both cards are the same price, the GTX 1060 is the one to go for; no doubt about it.

A GTX 1070 is only worthwhile for 1440p 144hz monitors. A GTX 1060 can easily cope with anything less than that.
