I recently bought a EVGA GTX 1060 3GB unaware that it wouldnt support VGA monitors, however mine has a DVI D *dual* link port. I was wondering if I used a HDMI cable with a DVI adapter corresponding to my monitor would work or if I'm out of luck.

EDIT 3: sorry for the incompetence after looking at the port and a bit of googling it is indeed a DVI-D dual link

Solution
HDMI->DVI adapters always work because it's all digital signal, being dual or single link doesn't matter as far as compatibility is concerned. Maybe you were confusing that with DVI-I, which is the combo port that allows analog adapters?
