Hi all

I am getting FPS drops and stutters in all games .

E.g. CS go : 300 - 200 fps Witcher 3 : FPS 80 -32 fps : Diablo 3 : BAD BAD BAD.

Anyone had similar issues ? my set up is as follows (Please note how my power is connected to my GPU)

CPU - i7 4790
RAM - 8 GB 1866mhz crucial
GPU- GTX 1060 MSI gaming X 6GB (Connected 1X 6 pin PCIE + 1X 6 pin to molex ) Coverter into 1X 8pin into card.
(So in a sense 2X6pin to 8 pin)
PSU - 500W Antec 80+ Gold
Mother Board - B85 Killer Fata1ty

My Unigine Heaven benchmark gives me a score or 2350 1080p with 91 average FPS everything on highest settings DX 11. But games are stuttering and fps drops are annoying . PLEASE HELP.

And yes i have the latest drivers installed.

First thing, check CPU temps when gaming. More often than not, these issues are not caused by the GPU, its often something else throttling performance.

Also, doesnt your Antec PSU have a 6+2 PCI-E power connector? you shouldnt use the adapters unless you really need to.

Hi Rob

Thanks for the reply , I looked at my PSU and in theory it should have a 6+2 PCIE , but i only have a 6 pin PCIE and another Molex to 6pin .

MY CPU temps are fine , with my previous card R9270X all was good , now with this much better card it seems i am having issues. When i look at the GPU Usage in games its sitting at 50% , is it maybe a power issue. ?

Will check when i get home from work what the CPU temp is . What is the best program to see this ?

When you say my PC is throttling performance to my GPU where do you think it might be coming from ?

thank you again.

RealTemp or CoreTemp.

Basically if the CPU is getting too hot, it will throttle the speed right down to lower temperatures - this has a knock on affect of lowering over all system performance as the CPU cannot keep up when running at such a low speed.

CPU TEMP is Maxed at 66 C and sits on average at 60 C ?
