I tried two models (Zotac GeForce® GTX 1060 Mini and MSI GeForce® GTX 1060 6GT OC) and both are not recognized by my motherboard. If I disable the onboard graphics, I get 1 long beep and 3 short ones (AGP Error).
I updated the bios from F14 to F16 but it didn't help.
From what I've read here, it should be compatible. I think maybe it's the PSU, but it works fine with a GTX 660 Ti.

EDIT: I get the same beep sequence if I don't plug the 6pin cable, which seems to confirm it's the PSU...

Specs:
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-ED5H
Intel Core i7-3770k
500 Watt Antec PSU EA-500D

Solution
I finally got it working!!!! ;D

I'm still not 100% sure how though as I tried so many things, but I think it's this option in the bios:
M.I.T. -> Miscellaneous Settings -> Peg Gen3 Configuration -> Set to Gen3 (instead of Auto).

In addition, I disabled the igpu and set the Init to PEG. Not sure if that was necessary, but I don't wanna change anything in this fragile setup!
Try this

Take out the graphics card
Boot on igpu go into bios
Under Init Display First select Peg this will default the PCIe slot
Shutdown and put in 1060

Might be just a sequence thing.

Try clearing Cmos too if this doesn't work to reset. Sometimes needing to be reset after a bios update.

I did all that, first resetting the CMOS, using the button directly on the mobo, then choosing PEG. It still boots on igpu and in the bios, the Init Display First is back to Auto, like if no PCIE card was detected.
If I disable completly the igpu, I get the beeps.

I have my pc monitor connected with DVI to igpu and my tv with HDMI to the gtx. If I set to PEG, I will still have the image coming out of the igpu on my monitor and the setting reverts to Auto

OK, thanks, I'll try again tonight, just to make sure. But I'm really starting to think it might be PSU related. If I deactivate the igpu and leave only the gtx 1060, I get the same beeps at the POST whether the 6 pin is plugged or not, which tells me the power is not getting there.. Only the fans are working, and they still work whene the 6 pin is unplugged.

Worst case, I can still return the GTX.. that would suck but at least I get my money back!

Could be psu related. The card is still drawing power from the pci slot so the fans would be getting power from that. Do some simple checks making sure both PCIe ends are properly plugged and maybe try another lead if you have a spare.

Here's the thing though.. I'm sure both my 6 pin leads are working because my 660 Ti needs both, and this one works properly if I put it back. Maybe it needs to draw more power from a single lead for the 1060 than it needs per lead for the 660 ti.. idk, it's quite an old PSU, 8 y/o.. The only part remaining from the original build!

I exactly have the same problem right now , i cleared the cmos by removing the battery , but whenever i change my graphic adaptor to PCI/PEG , it switched back to AUTO on reboot. I have a zotac GTX 1060 mini and a Digilite DL-b75m mobo , unfortunately there is no bios for this currently 🙁 But i know a guy who fixed this issue by updating his gigabyte mobo bios.

OK, so I changed the PSU to the one I mentionned yesterday, and same problem 🙁
Somebody also told me to try setting the bios in UEFI only, which didn't work either. At this point I feel I've tried every possible options, cable plugging and the result is always the same:
1. If igpu is enabled, it boots on igpu
2. if ipgu is disabled, it beeps

Any last minute idea before I get a refund?

Even i want this working on my card , but i don't have this PEG Gen 3 config in my bios 🙁 🙁 , but i do have the option to select the initial graphic adaptor to PEG , but it automatically switches to AUTO when i restart 🙁

Sorry.. Didn't work for me.. I am still struggling

I have same issue with Asus P8P67 Pro and i7-2600K. Tried two GTX 1060 MSI Armor, one 3gb another 6gb. Both work fine in MSI Aegis i7-6700 system. The PSU in P67 system is Corsair CM750M, and it works fine with two R9 380X in crossfire. When i use either GTX 1060 there's boot device error light on the MB. With 2600K i don't have another gpu, only pcie slot. After reconnecting DP, SATA data and power cables system boots and works fine. But the boot device error led on MB is always on, and after shot down or reset problem comes back. Seems to be an issue between new generation GTX and older MB chipsets.

What version bios do you have BeggarSifon?

Due to different uefi standard newer gpus use, updating the bios revision & then clear cmos (clear cmos is a must after updating) is recommended. I'm running a 1070 on a P8P67 delux with bios v1503 (Equivalent to v1502 for your motherboard) and it runs fine. Had memory problems with original bios which then the latest bios being v1503 addressed and didn't need to update for the gpu luckly, but was prepared to and theres been more bios updates since.

you're running an older bios than me. my version is 3602 - latest. no other updates to that since 2012.
