Hey guys, i currently have an MSI R9 380 and i was thinking of getting and upgrade to either a GTX 970 SC or the GTX 1060 which must cost around £250 and nothing over £300. The only problem i am facing is that i am considering watercooling the card.

My question is: Can the GTX 1060 be watercooled? If not is there any statements that it will be able to be watercooled in the future?

Thank you very much guys,
Tom

Solution
Pascal (as well as maxwell cards) are so efficient these days thermals are no longer an issue. There is zero point in watercooling anything less than a flagship card, unless the card is thermal throttling temperatures dont matter, and the extra price for water cooling would be better spent on a higher end card.

For the price of water cooling a 1060 you could get a 1070, for the price of water cooling a 1070 you would then be able to get a 1080.
There are no waterblocks AFAIK. EKWBs marketing manager said they have no plans for a block. You can use CPU blocks and rig them on, but then you leave the VRMs and Memory modules in the heat.

There really is no point in water cooling a 1060 anyway, its not necessary.

I would like my card watercooled, personally i think watercooling isn't needed but it will reduce the temps dramatically. Do you reckon i should buy the GTX 970 SC or should i save up to a higher end card which can be watercooled?

Thank you very much for the advice, appreciate it!

show me a $500 GTX 1080 please. 400 for the card and $100 for the block.

Even my 1060 was $420 AUD and that was wholesale

My 1060 superclocked was $320 AUD inc postage of ebay... but by the time you add water block, pump and res it would all add up $$$
i am currently doing another build and am looking at the Thermaltake Pacific PR22-D5 Silent Kit Reservoir/Pump Combo which is $316 AUD.... On Amazon.com.... so yeah there not cheap and thats w/out water block, tubing, coolant etc...
