gtx 1070 alternatives uk

hello i am looking for a new gpu to replace my gtx 1060 6gb edition first thing i thought was to get a 1070 the next link in the chain however i was shocked to find that the price of a 1070 has risen astronomically to the point where i saw 1070ti cards for cheaper than a normal 1070 therefore i am looking for an alternative to a 1070 perhaps team red (amd) has something to offer as right now i dont know what to think

no team red is even worse than team green, and according to nvidia its going to get worse in the next 6 months...

yeah most people now end up buying pre-made PC's from HP/Dell then harvest the GPU and sell of the rest of the system. So you maybe "stuck" with your 1060 for a bit that being said it still a good card.

Right now the $ per FPS on AMD is worse than on NVidia so switching "teams" won't help.

Look in the used market. Consider a 980 or 980ti. The 980 won't quite match a 1070, a 980ti will typically beat a 1070. Use that info to gauge what is a fair price.

I recently bought a used system to get the video card, saved a bundle.

the 1070's(1070ti) is only two tiers better than the 1060. At 1080p, any upgrade less than three tiers is more or less a lateral move, depending on the game and what resolution your monitor uses. You would need to go to a 1080 for a noticeable upgrade. Keyword here is noticeable.

a big thanks to all you guys responding i believe after reading all your responses i am going to sit tight for a few months and wait till a 1080 becomes a bit more affordable (hopefully) sell my 1060 to help pay for it like clarkjd suggests to get the most noticeable difference in performance for your money i would rather go for a more substantial upgrade then incremental one not however to say i am bashing a 980ti as i have heard only good things about them regards james
