GTX 1070 ASUS strix OC or regular?

Hi im looking to buy a gtx 1070 and came across 2 asus strix. Asus has an overclocked version and a regular version of the strix. I linked the comparison of the 2 cards cuz im wondering if its worth the extra money for the OC version or i will be able to get the same overclock with the regular version.

It really depends on you. BINNING might cause issues with you overclocking your nonOC card because you are going over the default factory settings. To be safe, I'd just get the overclocked version cause you are guaranteed. Save yourself the headache and hassle.

i'm not an nvidia fan but a 1070 is probably not worth overclocking at all

I purchased the OC version a few weeks ago because the non-OC version was not on sale. I am sure it will be possible to overclock the non-OC version to match the clock speeds of the OC version but if you can afford it then it may be worth the additional $20 to plug and play.

jimmyEatWord is right though, the GTX 1070 and 1080 both boost themselves to very high clocks automatically so overclocking is not really necessary. If you start with higher clocks though I believe the boost is greater.

It depends on the chip.the oc version has higher clock speed out of the box ,but they have no physical difference. You should be able to over lock the regular version the same as the oc. But if the chip is wooden with oc you guaranty some extra performance but if you pick the regular you will be stuck with that 1506 MHz. But that is really hard to happen .so buy the cheaper one since they have no difference.

Have you decided yet?, I bought the Strix 1070 OC and it runs at 2000mhz all the time on its own under the OC mode that's included in the software, haven't manually OCed it yet and max temp so far was 68°Celsius but the average is around 63. Very nice card I might add.
