Core i5 6400
Gtx 1070 8gb
8gb ram
Msi h110 pro-D
500 watt power supply
1tb hard drive

I recently upgraded my 950 to a 1070 and I’ve noticed when I’m gaming my cpu usage is vary high sometimes at a consistent rate of 100%. So I’m looking to buy a new cpu that does not bottleneck my gpu. I was told that the intel core i7 6700k would work fine and not bottleneck and it would also be compatible with my motherboard and power supply . What are your thoughts?

Solution
It would help yes but depending on the game a i7 6700K can still be a bottleneck. Well threaded games like the last two BF's cause even 4C/8T CPUs to bottleneck GPUs, especially in large multiplayer maps. Honestly in this day and age 6C/6T is the new entry level for gaming and more is better. Now as a cost effective short term solution the i7 6700k is great. 4 more threads without having to upgrade your motherboard. But keep in mind there is no overclocking the CPU on an H series motherboard so the little extra clock speed and 4 extra threads is all you get. It will help but there will still be plenty of games where your hurting for CPU resources. If it were me it is likely the path I would take trying to buy time until Zen 2 launches...
