So as the title says, I'm wondering should I get the GTX 1070 for my video editing in Adobe Premiere or should I just stick with buying a GTX 960 4GB?

I'm using it with a 4790K. I'm just starting to learn this stuff. I'm not an expert in bottle necking and all that.

Thanks in Advance

If you can manage the higher price of the 1070, there is absolutely no reason to go with the 960. The 1070 performs significantly better than even the 980 in games, and at half the price.

And the 4790k will not bottleneck this card, not by a long shot.

As the other 2 users above have mentioned, get the GTX 1070. The 960 cant be compared to the 1070, they are not even in the same category, price range and tier considered.

The 960 wasnt even a good pick before the 10 series from Nvidia came out, let alone now that the Pascal cards will be coming out one by one.

I just want to make sure it's worth the extra money, because I do short films, and some feature films coming. I use Adobe Premiere, and Davinci Resolve, a tad bit of After Effects.

25 to 80 minute films.

Right now everything is 1080P but may have a few that are 4K

and I haven't overclocked yet. I'm not that advanced yet.

Other than performance numbers, you can guarantee you'll be happy with the 1070 for much longer than the 960. This concept is called, "Future-Proofing" and, in other words, its making sure the parts you buy last as long as possible before you need an upgrade.

Both Premiere and Resolve use CUDA and gobble up graphics power so definitely go for the 1070 if you want the exports to be quite quick.

The GTX 1070 will be worth the extra money. Click on the Hardware Recommendations tab at the top. Click on the links if you want to see the testing.

No doubt the 1070 is a great card. However during the past week the prices of the GTX 980 TI has dropped bellow or par with the 1070 prices. And the 980 TI has significantly more CUDA cores which is more important to us as content creators.

Therefore can anyone explain or reviewed the both in this aspect..

Thanks in advance

Well, it depends on whether you will be working with 1080p or 4K videos. The 980ti is about 2% better for 1080p while the 1070 is about 8% faster for 4K. It's summarized in the chart at the bottom of the article. I'd be willing to take a slight hit on 1080p if I saw much 4K in my future since those files are the ones that will really stress the system and take the most time.

I'm thinking like you are. I think the 980 and 970 have more cuda cores, which is what I use for Premiere and Resolve.

I'm not sure yet if I'll move into 4K editing, but from the research I have seen as stated below...I don't know if the 8% in 4K is worth it. I'm also trying to find out what is the advantage of the 8GB of Vram for video editing, because I play 0 games, this all for video editing.

I was actually leaning more towards the 970.
