GTX 1070 pin connector

Hi guys,I need a quick answer on my question:I just ordered a GTX 1070 G1,and I found out that the GPU I have now has a 6 pin connector which goes into a slot in the motherboard which is 4pin,the GTX has 8pins,could I use a 8to 4 pin adapter.
