So I just bought a new gpu (Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 1070), along with a new monitor: Acer Predator z35. This is a 144hz monitor with the ability to overclock to 200hz, however I just installed the new 1070 and its current drivers and it wont allow me to change from 60hz to 144hz.

I have checked the nvidia control panel as well as windows display settings, and they both only provide the option to change from 60hz to 85hz and 100hz, however whenever I chose either 85 or 100 I get no signal, so the only current working one is 60hz. I have reinstalled my gpu drivers twice now, using DDU for clean installs and am also using a brand new display port cable.

I cannot find any other settings in my monitors menu to change to 144hz...does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem?!

You have to use Display Port or DVI dual link cable. Anything other can not output 144Hz.

Nvidia Control Panel also has option to create custom resolutions. Try that.

Did you really just say 144hz is not possible on DVI????

Did not realise this monitor lacked DVI port ! Way of the future, i lean towards my first answer, is the monitor itself in 60hz Mode?

I tried a custom input and when I tried to test the 144hz, i get no signal and takes me back to 60hz

the monitor itself may be in 60hz mode however i have no idea how to change it. Ive checked all the settings on the monitor and read the manual no help at all

1st of all, I didn't say that. I said I didn't believe HDMI 2.0 could, but at 1440p, DVI doesn't support it either.

Ah is that why they remove them now? not the future? higher then 1080p has no 144hz support from DVI? learn something new everyday

I only mentioned as my benq 144hz has modes from 60 80 100 120 144 etc, but VERY easily accessible and visible, If you are having trouble finding it i would say it's just the 1 mode

No I bought it from MSY this morning with my new gpu. I do not have the original cable that came with the monitor as I bought it second hand

---Yes, I am plugged into the gpu

Maybe simply defective monitor? unlikely but I would just ask for a new one if possible. You def. want that 144hz for sure and if it doesn't display it, you are in right to ask a new one..
