Question GTX 1079 still worth it?

I have a 2500k gaming pc and was going to buy a used 1070 8gb but recently Nvidia announced they are stopping driver support for these cards. I was wondering though what problems I would run into still running it today. And if it's not worth buying anymore, what is comparable for around 100$ CAD which is what I'm finding 1070s at.

It is honestly sad to see NVIDIA dropping support for the 10 series as they are still quite popular and the 1080 and its ti variant are still quite relevant for cost to performance. IMO seek out the 1080 if your PSU will support it. Avoid the FE blower card as it is a dog.

If you can grab an RTX 3060 12GB, you will be better off.

A new RX6600, or used, is faster than a GTX 1080, so keep that in mind.

Our local market for used cards is in such a bad way that people are asking barely less than new for these around here. I have been trying to find a 5700xt or 6600 used for ~$100-125 for a minute now and most folks are asking around $10 less than a new one. I guess it is still that after Christmas coming into tax time mindset. Perhaps in the spring things will relax a little.

$190 is already a decent bargain new.

2500K rules out using an Intel GPU, no rebar and the CPU overhead would likely be too much.

What I am seeing in the US on ebay is similar most are only reduced a little bit. What is more interesting is that 6600 XT and even RX 7600 are showing up for less than $180, sold. So despite the extra cost, those might be the ones to go after. Just give a chance on some lowball offers.
