GTX 1080 CPU combo

I want to upgrade to the GTX 1080 as soon as the 3rd party versions come out. I currently have an i5-2400 and people say it is going to bottleneck the card very badly. My first question is if it is going to bottleneck it horribly, what kind of frame rates can I expect in games such as GTA 5, Rust and Just Cause 3? I can only justify spending the extra money to get the CPU if it is going to be a massive improvement and not 10-20 fps. I'm used to playing at 30 fps on Rust so as long as the fps doesn't drop below 60 at all then I am happy. So is it essential to upgrade the CPU as well or stick with the i5-2400 for a few more years?

If your mobo supports overclock,a used 2500k clocked to 4,5 will be great and wont hold the 1080.

if you want too get new Cpu you will need New Mobo since they are on diffrent chipset
even if you get new cpu like 6950x or what ever which costs 1700$ you will at most get 20% FPS increase

those that say you Cpu will bottle neck bla bla bla .... are the same kind of people that are saying that 58 fps is bad and 60 is good ....

Btw skylake i5 cpus only have like 10-15% fps increase comapred to 2nd gen i5s
with that gpu you willhave 100+ FPS on 1080p on ALL games even if you play with pentium G

If your gaming @1080P you don't need a GTX 1080, a 1070 (Non-Founders with aftermarket cooling and factory overclocked) is more then enough and will last for years, especially if your only @60hz for your monitor. As far as a bottleneck, the i5-2400 will hold the 1070 back a bit but I doubt it will be noticeable.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'm going to get a 1080 with a new 144 Hz monitor.
