Gtx 1080 or wait

I can pick up a gtx 1080 for $450
But there is rumors of new cards coming out, should I wait or pull the trigger

As ive read they wont come out this year but later next year.

Around October this year hopefully i read. Nvidia is pretty invested in BF5 and the game's release is around October.

Launch is supposed to be end of next month. By Aug/Sept we should see a supply of them in channel. Probably only the highest end model, so if you aren't looking to pay that kind of money for a card then these aren't for you.

We'll know more next month i hope. FE's may make a presence July'ish then partners as you know will be soon after. Around Sept/Oct that link of Tom's says. We'll know more soon. Definitely i don't think will be until next year as suggested i hope for those waiting lol.

manlyman The answer depends on what your current spec are. If they are decent, then you could probably hold off on upgrading for a little bit longer.

ya id say my specs are decent, currently running on gtx 980 and ryzen 1600, ill just hold off until the 1180 gets released and depending on its price ill either grab a 108 0 or 1180

What monitor? I'm not sure there is enough performance increase from the 980 to the 1080. Not $450+ worth increase.

I'm in the same situation for powering my Acer predator x34 monitor. Dunno what to do for the best. Need it by mid August at the latest. Tempted to just get a 1080 now but know I'll likely regret it.
