Gtx 1080 phoenix different versions and does higher fanspeed hurt the card?

Hello guys

I would like to have 2 quick questions:

1 Since im using hyperx cloud 2 all the time when gaming could i just change the fan curve to 80% at 70C (that it usually reaches under 100%load) to reduce temps or that could hurt the cooler?
(Since the fans are 30-40% at 70C usually)


And i got the normal phoenix (not the gs that i wanted to) does that make a difference? (I plan to manualy oc the card)

80% might be a bit overkill, usually 65% should be sufficient
but no shouldn't really hurt the fan

in stock mode there's no difference
overclocking RAM shouldn't differ between the Phoenix & the GS
overclocking the chip itself...according to marketing the GS are the golden samples of chips, so they use the better quality chips for those cards, which in theory should OC higher
but I mean that's basically just marketing, will much more depend on your luck in the silicon lottery

It went to 1860mhz by itself on core with gpuboost 3.0

and was stable on 2114mhz when i manually oc-ed it (i didnt try anything higher) but i rolled it back after coz its a new card an costed 410$ xP
As i saw in the reviews thats pretty average (very few cards i saw went above that but most can hit this)

yeah well they all just cook with the chips NVIDIA hands them
but that's actually a nice OC if you got it stable

the Phoenix does have a pretty good cooler
usually overclocking the VRAM a bit gives quite a nice boost as well

What do you think about the tdp timit?

I was a bit confused as this card has a 180w limit (that i increased in msi afterburner) while the gs has a 200w limit but they all have a 8 and a 6 pin interface
How exactly is that? Isnt power consumption and power interface related? (I have no idea if this question is drawn up correctly sry xD)
