GTX 1080 SLI poor performance...

Hello,

Why are my 1080's being out performed by my 980's???

ASUS TUF Z170 SABERTOOTH MARK 1
Intel Core i7 i7-6700K Quad-core 4 GHz
2 x Nvidia 1080 SLI
Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum Series 32GB DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C10
Samsung 950 Pro 512GB M.2 SSD

I can only think a driver problem, have you tried a fresh install of the drivers?

Check in that benchmark the proccesor maximum turbo core clock, something is not right there.

No I do not have the 980's anymore. And yes I reinstalled my drivers.

I did notice the maximum turbo core clock being different but I don't know what to make of it.

Have you tried running with SLI disabled? Your graphics score looks like a single 1080 so possible an SLI scaling problem.

I did change from 144hz 1080p to a 100hz 1440p monitor, think that may affect the score?

Firestrike doesn't run at your monitor resolution, it renders at 1080p. At lower resolutions your cpu is a bottleneck for a pair of 1080's. I would run Firestrike Extreme which renders at 4k and you will probably see much better sli scaling.

Sounds interesting, I assumed it would at least match the score... Apparently not though.

Here is a review with an overclocked 5960x having the same issue at lower resolution. It looks like you see some improvement at 1440p and more so at 4k.

So a 6700k - Sabertooth z170 and 2 GTX 1080''s is a bad idea FFS,!!!!!!!!!! I may need to rethink my next build.

I have been gaming on PC for a year and half now so my old cheap one needs to go.. I need my next build to handle games in high and low settings and triple monitor. What CPU would you recommend for 2 GTX 1080''s because I thought the 6700k would be good enough.
