GTX 1080 (ti) compatibility

Hello,. I'm currently running a GTX 1060 in an old Lenovo m91 box. I'm wanting to upgrade to a GTX 1080 or gtx 1080 ti but am worried about compatibility. Does anyone know if the 1080's will work ok with legacy bios? I'm hoping that since the 1060 works fine that the 1080's might as well since they're the same vintage. Any thoughts?
PS. Ive already updated the PSU and am running the lastest firmware for the box.

I currently have a i5-2400 in there which I believe clocks at 3.1 to 3.4ghz (boost). I'm noodling an i7-2600 which is the max the Mobo can use. Thinking that might give me a little more steam.

Thanks for the info. I plan on staying at 1080p (actually 1200p with my 16:10 monitor) for the foreseeable future. I know some folks think a 1080 or 1080ti is overkill for those resolutions, but the load on gpu's will just continue to increase as we see more god-rays and the like Incorporated into games in the future. And I like being able to run games maxed out graphically. Otherwise I'd just stick with a console!

All gpus to date have hybrid bios, both uefi and legacy. Uefi support began 7 series Gtx. Since you're already running a 1060 there will be no problems running a 1080. Bottlenecking as said will be your only issue.

Thanks for the info. I did have an issue with a AMD rx 470 in this box. Found out later that it only supported uefi.

Amd cards can be weird, sometimes having a switch to toggle between. Those without needed to make sure boot priority is set to legacy and secure boot off. Nvidia cards rarely have problems.

Obviously difficult to change with no screen.
