Gtx 1080 ti dumb question

I have a gigabyte gtx 1080 ti gaming OC and I found this article about a water block for a gpu quite similar to mine.

Now it probably won't fit and this is a dumb question, but could it fit (theoretically)?

No. There is no way I would EVER attempt to modify the water block when it's sitting on a near $800 GFX card. The 1080 Ti that I'm buying is only $739 but still it's not something I would take a chance with nor will I recommend that course of action.

Why so intent on that cooler as opposed to a proper block designed for your card? Looks? Hate to see the look when the pump's almost up to pressure but ends up shorting out the card and motherboard because it's crying because it's not in its real home.

Unless you really know what your doing and have a CNC machine I wouldn't modify and waterblock. However Phanteks makes a waterblock for the Gigabyte Gaming card. EK does not.

EKWB states they have no plans to make a waterblock for your Gigabyte card, however I think this is the correct one from Phanteks?
