I'm wanting to mod my gtx 1080ti with a EVGA hybrid kit, since there isn't a dedicated kit, I'm going to mod it like this video

For anyone who's not familiar with these kits, the cooler fan connection on the card are shared with both the on board fan and the cooler pump, which means taking the whole card apart to get to it. I have a Asus Z270F MOBO which had dedicated AIO connection points.

I'm wondering if I could connect the pump directly to the MOBO and save on taking the whole card apart? I'm hoping I can still link it to the GPU from BIOS, Is this possible? Also the wire which would of connected to the GPU fan would have a live connection for the fan, What's the best way of preventing this from shorting on the board if they touched? I thinking blu tac.

Thanks for any response in advance
Jamie

Thanks for the quick response, do you know if it can be assigned to the gpu temperature (in the BIOS) instead of the cpu? I'm guessing that's the default or should I just set it to max rpm to be safe

The mobo header isn't designed for AIO pump but it's the fan for the pump. Also the hybrid cooler must only be connected to the cards fan header, connecting directly to the motherboard could damage both card and motherboard, from EVGA support.
