I have a gtx 280 and I've been using it to run my 37" Samsung tv as a second monitor to watch stuff downloaded/streamed offline. So the issue is that when I set up the 37" monitor as a "clone" of my computer display there's one bar on the top of the screen that's visible, the rest of the screen is black. It's not a huge deal because I can use the "dual view" mode which merges the two displays (22" Samsung monitor and the 37" lcd tv) into one large one. At that point I can open up a window (on the primary 22" monitor) and drag it onto the 37" display and everything is viewable. It's a mild annoyance but still an annoyance.
I've looked around online and haven't found a solution, I was hoping someone here has had a similar experience or would be able to give me some new ideas to trouble shoot. The peculiar thing is that both display modes worked when I first set up my system. It was only after a few days the bottom third of my screen was useless in the "clone" display mode. I can't imagine its the cable because as I said it works in "dual view" mode but not when I choose to "clone" the primary display. Also its a DVI to HDMI cable that connects the gtx 280 to my tv, since it's digital shouldn't it "work or not work" as with most digital connections, not just work 50% of the time.
The gtx itself seems to be working fine. It's a regular edition, not overclocked. It runs the games I play at the native resolution of the monitor without the fan going above 40%. Save the occasional driver issue it's never given me a problem when using the regular 22" monitor. I don't think it's the tv because it worked when I first set everything up as I mentioned, also I have an a 360 setup and an hd cable box . They use component and HDMI cables respectively with no issues. Any help would be kindly appreciated.
