Gtx 570 on 400watts?

Hello,

i have bought a gtx 570 graphics card and have ordered a 650 watt power surply but the graphics card has arived can i install this when i still have my 400watts power surply or will this damage it?
the surplyers recemend 550 watts
 
No.

The slower GTX 560 card alone uses 160w of power. The GTX 570 can probably use up to about 180w of power. If you try to do so then:

1. Your system may simply shut down while gaming.
2. Your 400w PSU may die.
3. Your 400w PSU may die and it may damage at least one other component in your PC.
 

A GTX560 Ti uses about 170 and a GTX570 needs about 220w, just an FYI. The lower spec GTX560 non TI is about a 150w card.
