So, I come here to ask some advice and info before I fry my old computer with water. (will try to keep it short and go straight to the point.

I have a Nvidia gtx 580 (asus stock) that's needing some watercooling cause it goes somewhat hot when playing games like Far cry 3, Rainbow six las vegas...(65º Celcius and crashes the PC). I already have the waterblock (aquagraFX all nickel plated). Now I need a Water pump, Reservoir and Radiator
My plan to buy (very cheap) is something like this: (water pump + small reservoir mix) and (120mm Aluminum radiator)

I dont intend to overclock my GPU (it already gets hot without OC) so you can see that I dont demand too much from the watercooling. My Fears are about the metals. Can aluminium and a nickel plated copper waterblock be in the same system or should I look for a copper radiator? (Galvanic corrosion is my big fear... with time it could punchure a hole in the nickel plater copper waterblock and fry my gpu)
Other fear is that the pump may not have enough flow for this particular GPU (Do I need a more powerful pump and bigger reservoir?)

PS: I did not post any links to website stores...All the photos are there just to show the settings of what I intend to buy and therefore I hope to comply with the forum's rules)

Thank you for reading in advance!

Well, the problem is that I have already ajdusted the fan speed to hit the 60's temperatures early on but still it remains hot like that. Maybe the thermic paste isnt the best but from what I know, thermic paste isnt what would cool down the gpu from 60 to 40ºC (watercooling could do that). and this setup that I present would be less that 50€ (assuming it works)

65 degrees celisius is not that hot and should never crash your computer under any circumstances

Thats what I think too! Well, I just assumed that it was the temperature because I managed to lower the temps to 55ºC (by lowering the memory clock, the core clock and the core voltage just a bit) and it ran stable.
Anyway, its true that the dangerous temperatures that make the GPU turn off are about 85's to 90's so there is something wrong with the card. I didnt give it too much tought cause even If I could run at at stable 65ºC , I still think its too much? if I could lower the temperature to about 40ºC with a cheap pump and copper radiator, then why not do it? (I understand that I still have a problem at hand, that it, the gpu should not turn off at such a middle temperature as 65ºC)

65degrees is nothing to worry about.

Is the gpu causing you problems? Seems to me you're trying to suss out a problem (thought to be) but actually not a thermal problem.

Cards can run into the high 80s before throttling.

With the effort and cost involved in changing the cooler, could argue a gtx1060 is more worthwhile avenue. Less power, less heat and better performing.

You are right. I have no idea why the GPU throttles as it does and that's something I would like to see be solved. Since it's not an excessive temperature problem then I wounder if it would keep crashing even after adding the watercooling system... The only thing that I changed was the Fan speed, the rest (in MSI afterburner) is at default... I dont see that the fan speed could be the culprit at shutting the GPU down (or could it if it was constantly changing)?

I must say that i don't quite understand the techniques of Overclocking and thats why I sticked with the default settings, but while I messed with the fan speed, i did too messed with the voltage, core clock and memory clock and managed to have a stable temperature reading (specially when lowering the memory clock from 2000Mhz which is the default value, to 1300~1400Mhz), but I kept messing with the settings in an effort to lower the temps even more and the GPU crashed as a result (my fault that I didnt record exactly what were the exact settings that made the games stable at 55~60ºc). In resume, I think the crashing problem could be a mix of bad OC (or even underclock) settings and high temperatures

will get back to you with some concrete data

Well, there aint much to conclude here else than my computer has a barbecue grill incorporated in it (1min after the screenshot, and getting back on the game... the game Farcry 3 went down. It's ridiculous that stock settings do this kind of crap. I Have no other choice. I will move on with this Watercooling system and warm my Tea and coffee water, warm my bathroom water, and basically end global dryness by producing distillate water from salt water by heating it with this amazing heat reactor.

Got mine for $40 ... For the computer that it is for, its not worth a 1050ti... What if i had bought a 1050ti with the same problem? There would be always someone saying "Buy a Titan"... never ends.

Maybe I will format my computer... Formating the computer sometimes has the same effect as the old "Have you tried to turn it off and on?"
