my system recognizes the graphic card and in the device manger it shows my display adapter as gtx 650 ti.when the vga plug is attached to my gtx 650 ti the boot screen and desktop(low resolution) appears without any nvidia drivers installed....but when i install the nvidia drivers and restart, my screen goes blank(different colors appear each time i restart like once blue and once green...)....plz some one help...........

my guess is that
1. there is some problem with driver where my cpu and gpu are not compatible
2. some problem in vga driver.

my old card is nvidia 8400 gs and when i attach it my screen comes normally........the only problem is when i attach my gtx 650 ti and restart my pc the display crashes at the log in screen.

what i have done till now
1. updated bios
2. changed bios settings.
3. finished windows update.
4. installed all the previous drivers for the card including beta versions but it din't matter.

my specs
processor : intel core 2 duo E7400 2.8 GHz
mother board: gigabyte ga g311m es2l
psu : cool master 550 w RS-550-PCAr
ram : 4gb ddr2 ram
hard drive : 320 gb
gpu : nvidia geforce 8400 gs
at present trying to attach my palit gtx 650 ti

Did you try system restore ? make a clean installation of your windows ?also your card may not be getting enough power so try different 6 pin power connector or use the 6 pin Adapter that came with that box ! I have heard CM 550 are faking their watts!

ya i made a system restore and even installed a new copy of windows and i tried connecting the gpu to the other 6 pin adapter........the 6 pin works perfectly fine cause the screen showed up when booting...........i guess the problem is with my motherboard socket type......its socket 775......and the other issue i doubt is the driver for my gtx 650 ti......my other card 8400 gs runs perfect on those drivers but when it comes to gtx 650 ti im able to the log in screen and just after that the screen goes blank(not power saving mode).........iv dreamed of playing high graphic games and just when i attach the card this problem comes........

Are you putting the 8400 in and then switching to the 650 after tha drivers were installed ? If so.

1. Uninstall all nVidia drivers.
2. Use Ccleaner to remove all references to nVidia in registry
3. Install 650 Ti card
4. Boot machine; if windows wants to install anything, just say no.
5. Install latest nvidia drivers from here

http://www.nvidia.com/object/win8-win7-winvista-64bit-310.90-whql-driver.html

i have tried it just now and it dint work. but at second step i clicked registry in ccleaner and it showed a list under registry cleaner.....i selected every thing in the list and clicked 'scan for issues' and then after it scanned i clicked fix issues........i hope that was the process. if not please explain me how to repeat the second step again!!!! please help......its very depressing that my gpu is not working.............

there should be no problem with OS after clean installation . You should use windows 8 or 7 !
1. plug your monitor vga to your on board graphics (remove 8400gs)
2.Select your native resolution remove all previous nvidia drivers.
3 Install the Gtx ......
if you see your resolution 800x600 then try to change it & install latest driver !hope it works ..
there can be a compatibility issue with the mobo but some are running gtx series that have LGA 775 sockets so that wont be a problem ! I know you want to play BF3 on ultra & others .....GL :)

just now tried it but no luck found...............il have to do more research on drivers area..........the problem is definitely in the driver.....cause my gpu is getting recognized but crashing after installing the driver........but i dont understand why gtx 650 ti crashes while my 8400gs stays stable...........and again recognizing but crashing is the case with 650 ti.............god knows if il ever be able to find a solution.....but still thanks for taking your time and helping me out :)

Minimum System Power Requirement for gtx 650 ti is 400w and mine is cool master 550W.... i guess my psu is not the problem here......but even i might be wrong and unfortunately my friends are into consoles rather than pc's.....so i think its not possible for me to test my psu and gpu on other systems............but thanks for the help anyway..!!!

Wait did you try Gaming without installing drivers? btw what Os do you have..??
2 more things you can do !
1. check your 20+4 pin on motherboard then boot with 24 pin if it don't work then 20 pin !
2. Install the driver that came with the 8400gs (old driver with CD)
now it should work ! Again if it fails check ur Gpu on some other Mobos having pci e 1.0 or 2.0 !! :)

recently I brought the coolermaster extreme power plus 600 watt without checking the reviews now I am scared coz it has negative results !....I was planning to buy a Gtx 680 🙁

my os is windows 7 64bit. i tried gaming without drivers but when i clicked the application it showed an error saying 'compatible drivers for video adapter not installed'

i tried your 2nd option also but the drivers with 8400gs wont install as they dont support gtx 650 ti.........totally there are around 9 drivers which are compatible with gtx 650 ti including beta and i have tried all those which made no difference........

i tried the 1st option........my motherboard has a 24 pin but i tried starting it with 20 pin attached and it loaded the boot screen and even now im typing this text with the 20 pin attached to my mobo......but it dint make a difference with the gtx 650 ti........same old result of screen crashing!!!!!

i tried it just now....but it dint work....my 8400gs is 64bit type card and gtx 650 ti is 128bit........in cpu-z i noticed that my processor's L1 and L2 cache's are 64 byte line size............is there a problem where 128 bit cards dont support 64 bit type cache's processor's??????

Now its a 100% driver issue or conflict ..
1. Put back ur old card !
2. delete /uninstall all drivers
3. use driver sweeper to delete from registry..
4. put back ur new card & do a fresh install..
it will work .... :) note:::just make sure you clear the registry !

i tried it just now but the issue still remains............there are particularly two types of driver installation
1. driver install through windows update
2. manual driver installation through nvidia website(that is by downloading latest updates)

iv tried every combination and permutation.
1. only driver install through windows update without driver from nvidia website (i uninstalled previous drivers and removed them from registry using driver sweeper)
2. only manual driver install through website and turn off automatic update( uninstalled previous drivers and removed from registry)
3. tried both driver install through windows update and nvidia webite(uninstalled previous drivers and removed everything from registry)

nothing seems to be working.......should i install 32 bit operating system and repeat the same process?? or do you have any other suggestions??? doesn't matter if its too lengthy..........il do whatever it takes to make my gpu working!!!!!!!

download and install the driver manually from nvidia's website & not windows update .
wDDm 1.1 drivers are for DX 10 which ur card isnt ! ! Are you going to buy windows 8 ?if it end with the compatibility issue then installing windows 8 is useless !
I know a guy who was getting blue screen like urs .....then he removed >rams ,jumpers& battery > waited 5 min > connected them again > reboot> worked ! I know its crazy but it worked !

i tried it on my frndz pc and everything was fine.....it could even play games on high........my frnd has a 9800 gtx core 2 duo pc.............i think something is wrong only with my pc..........and i have a doubt......if the card is able to boot safe mode it means everything is fine with the card, right??? or can there be any card issues(vram fried etc etc) even when it is able to load safe mode????
