gtx 660 question

My question is in 2 parts or maybe more

1. do you think on a 1600 x 900 monitor that a 660 will do good through 2014 with the next gens out now?

2. what is the cheapest cpu that I can get that will work well for gaming and run the 660 without lag

I may use some fraps from time to time.

Yes, the GTX 660 (2GB) will be fine at that resolution.

I'm running a GTX 660 with a 1600x900 monitor right now as i type this. It will run games very well since it is not 1080p, but still looks much better than 720p. Also, any quad-core CPU will do fine with this.

I would recommend an i5 since the i7 is overdoing it, but it's your choice. The same with any AMD processors. You could also use an i3 with hyperthreading power on it, which does virtualize 4 threads, which acts like a quad-core processor. (sorta)
