Hiya Guys,
Before I start I'd like to say I'm not too computer savvy, and sorry if I frustrate you with my asking what something means. I'll do my best to explain my issue in complete detail.
My Brother bought me a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 660 TI, on the box it says its Overclocked to 1032MHz, I read on another Toms Hardware forum that this was putting too much power in the card and crashing it constantly in games, as such the user used MSI afterburner to downclock it to 915MHz or something rather, I haven't yet tried this as I have no idea how to.
Basically my card crashes in every game I play, (or it's drivers, I don't know pick me up on technicalities so I learn) and this happens in almost every game I play, or any game that puts stress on the card so to speak. if I play Guild Wars 2 at anything over medium or high the game will crash within 5 to 10 minutes, same deal for any other game. Running games lower seems to keep it stable for quite a while, but what the hell is the point when this card is capable of running most of these games at High to Ultra.
The GPU temperature in game reaches around 71 most of the time, and this doesn't seem like a healthy temperature, at least not to me. Odd thing is, my computer has very good ventilation and cooling, why would this card be overheating, I doubt overheating is the issue here. I've tried the card in two PC's both had the same problem, my warranty has now run out and returning it isn't a possibility here. But I know the 660 TI is a great little card and I really want to fix this problem.
I'll give you a more in depth description of what happens now, so I'll play a game, and all of a sudden the screen will go black most of the time it recovers and the game screen returns but then it just does it again, over and over, the issue however forces me to end the game program in task manager most of the time. I've updated the card to it's latest drivers, tried older drivers and even beta ones, ran into the same issue each time, I've tried reinstalling operating systems, system restores none of which fix this issue. It really is quite irritating and forces me to play most of my games on low as to get any performance from the card.
If you guys have any idea how I can fix this issue or at least diagnose the problem I would be more than grateful and thank you for reading this titanic post!
