I currently have a GTX 660 ti. (i7 4770k , 16gb RAM, 1440p dual monitor) I mainly use my computer for video/graphic rendering, and occasional gaming.

I'm ready to upgrade my GPU and was looking at the 1060, but am also considering going for dual 660ti. Anyone have an opinion whether upgrading to a 1060 (or even 1070) would offer any performance advantage for rendering/gaming over dual 660ti?

Thank you!

Upgrading to a single 1060 would have advantages like: lower power consumption, no stuttering due to SLI issues in games, more VRAM (whether you get the 3GB or 6GB 1060, it's either going to be the same amount or more) and probably just better performance all around (15%ish?). Adding a 660ti would probably be a lot cheaper though, depending on where you get it. I would recommend just replacing it with a GTX 1060 6GB.

Thanks, I would be looking at the 6gb version of the 1060 - it's only an extra $150ish above another 660ti.

On that note, do you think getting the 1070 is worth the extra money over the 1060 (for mostly video/graphics rendering, and occasional game play)?

I'd probably just stick with the 1060, diminishing returns hit hard when using consumer GPUs as far as rendering goes.

Thank you very much for the feedback. I just purchased the 1060 on your advice and feel good about it. I wish you the best in the future!

Yeah, no problem. Have fun with your new card 🙂
