Im in the market for a new 24" monitor since mine is taking a dump, big thick white verticle lines and some dead pixels, anyways... Im thinking of getting this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313

Would this be a bad choice? a 144hz monitor, i know my rig isnt a super beast but I am getting around 70-80 frames in BF4 and thats with my current cpu " AMD 975 3.6Ghz" CRAP 😀 i

My rig:
EVGA nvidia gtx 670 FTW 2gb ram
AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) "ordering this with the monitor"
16gb of ram
Forgot my motherboard, it will support my new cpu tho.

Im up for any suggestions for a new monitor! help me out! 😀

I also have the 670 FTW and I would suggest getting large 1080p 120hz monitor if you can afford it.
Something along the lines of a samsung s27a950d. That asus monitor is also very good if you dont mind only 24". I am busy selling my 3x24" monitors to get a 27"

Well wouldn't it cause huge problems and a waste of money if I cant get anywhere near 144+ FPS? in my main game im playing right now? If I enabled vysnc wouldnt it just cap it at 60fps? Im unsure how these high refresh rate monitors actually work. Im just worried about really bad screen tearing.

What if i just settled for this? im sure this is a 60Hz monitor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014345

The high hz monitors are worth the money in my opinion. With the 670ftw you will get over 60fps in many games and games like bf4 on medium settings I get often over 100fps. I overclock my LCD to 75fps and it makes a huge difference over 60fps in smoothness, and 120hz will be perfect. I never see any tearing on my PC, and I am not using vsync ever because the game feels less responsive that way. Im am currently awaiting delivery of a qnix evolution II monitor which will probably prompt me to upgrade my graphics.

Wait for G-Sync! Although a higher cost of ~$120 you will have a smooth gaming experience with 30+fps or more instead of needing 60+fps with V-Sync on (which makes frame dips when they happen all the more obvious).

Key Benefits:

V-sync off = performance boost with existing hardware ( I currently always use V-sync because image tearing takes me out of my game).

Higher settings with the same hardware because you only need to exceed 30+fps instead of 60+fps.

Frame dips should also be eliminated (game is at 60fps, drops to 35fps for a second then goes back up) because the hz on your monitor adjusts to the FPS your card is outputting instead of being stuck at 60/120/144.

I went ahead and ordered the 144hz monitor, I cant wait and cant spend anymore money on the G-sync monitors, maybe another time!

Now I have been doing alot of reading about using a HDMI cable, I keep hearing that I wont achieve higher refresh rates with them. Is this true?

Im looking at this cable here http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005K97B4Y/ref=pe_385040_30332200_pe_309540_26725410_item , it says its 1.4a version and can support 3D so I assume it can reach these high refresh rates.
