GTX 670 Idle Power Consumption

Hello, I just noticed when I look at the power % usage in MSI afterburner it says that my graphics card is using 50% of it's power at all times when my computer is idle. I installed the latest drivers and have the power management set to adaptive in the Nvidia control panel. I have no idea what is causing this, maybe just a problem with MSI Afterburner?.

Hello... Your Core clock is not in idle/speed mode... disable your MSI profile and re-boot, and look again.

I have 135/162 idle clocks on a GTX760 and 7.2% TDP... from GPU-Z

I got rid of the profiles on afterburner and it's still the same but I did check gpu-z and it says 9.0% TDP so it was Afterburner giving me wrong %.

Hello... Well check them both together with your profile... I have seen MSI do some strange things to the GPU programing... As your Core Clock was not idle and the high power reading, that's two sensors giving you information.

I did a fresh install with default settings on afterburner. Here is both of the programs side by side. The clocks are still the same in afterburner.

Not sure if this is related but i heard recent nvidia drivers have quite a conflict with third party overclocking tool detection. And i did see it myself. For example looking at MSI OSD my power utilization was stuck around 7% even when the gpu running demanding games. And it seems the much recent drivers also having clocking issues (also happen on my machine). There were hotfix driver released for it (before nvidia release current game ready drivers) but in my case it did not fix my problem. But personally i don't really mind about it because rebooting my pc usually fix the issue. In my observation the clock problem happen after few hours after my pc being turn on. Since rebooting my pc solve the problem i just hope nvidia future driver will fix the problem.

Hello... My advice about MSI is to use it to help find a Profile for your GPU, and then just flash it to your card and remove use of MSI profiles... Fan speed is only 30% (std) or 40% idle profiles in my collection/experience, I prefer the 40% for best cooling, with slight increase of idle fan noise.

Nothing seems to change the MSI Afterburner readings, the GPU-Z looks fine though.
