I have pulled out my old Gaming PC that has been broken, i have fixed it and want to get it up and running for the latest games.

As it is pretty old some of the hardware is out of date, and i am working on a new high end build to be made soon after the next gen consoles are released.

I would like to get a graphics card to suit me for a few months and be able to play the lastest games on ULTRA @ 1920x1080.

I have noticed the GTX 680 is in my price range.
How many FPS does it get on ULTRA with current games like, Bioshock Infinate, Far Cry 3, Skyrim, Crysis 3?

I also noticed there is a 4GB VRAM option, im new to PC Cards so im not sure if this will be a better option. Will i need 4GB for a single 1080p TV?

Bearing in mind i will only be using this card for a few months, i dont want to go overkill and get anything too pricey, but i do want to play everything on ULTRA etc as this will be my first PC gaming experience after coming from Consoles for many years (i know, i know)

Thanks
- Callum

Those games except crysis3 and far cry 3 you will get about 60-75FPS on ultra
crysis3 and far cry 3 simply too demanding and thecrysis3 being cpu intensive you still will manage 50-65fps on the GTX 680
You never need 4GB for a single 1080p
4GB is for multi monitor high resolutions it doesn't increase frames/performance @1080p

EDIT: performance / price wise best buy isn't the 680 but a 2GB GTX 670 FTW

7970 GHz editions are typically faster in most games. I love Nvidia but the 7970's are just a better deal too. I'd get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125413

You also get 2 free games. That card is the top dog right now for under 500 bucks. You can max out any game with it right now with usually, over 60 FPS. Some of the newer games won't run quite at a constant 60 all the time (Crysis 3 and Far Cry 3 most notably) but that card is great. You won't need more than 2-3GB of VRAM at 1080p by the way

As imomun said, the 680 is a waste of money. A 680 is only 5% faster than a 670, but it costs 25-30% more.

In real world terms, that means that you're paying $100 more for 4-6 fps. Absolute waste.

Now... why will you only be using this card for a couple months?

Hello the reason i will only be having this card for a couple of months is.
Because Next gen games are coming out they will be more demanding, as my PC is pretty old it may have some bottlenecks for next gen games.

So i have decided that once next gen games are released i will be building a new high end PC.
I just want a card to get me through the next few months.

Again, I'd get a 7970, better performance in most games for the price. I'm an Nvidia fanboy but I wouldn't spend money on a 680 at this point when you can get a 7970 50 bucks cheaper and still have similar/often better performance.
