I just installed and reinstalled, and reinstalled, and reinstalled, and reinstalled my new GTX 760 a billion times and the only thing that happens is I get a black screen when I boot up. I've disabled my onboard graphics already and I still get a black screen. I'm about to kill this thing with fire. Help.

Did you have an old GPU installed before this one? And if so Before you removed it did you uninstall the GPU drivers for it? your sig says you had the 570 installed. Make sure you uninstall the old drivers before installing the new GPU. even though they are from the same company and run almost the same driver They need to be Uninstalled and reinstalled.

when the system powers on does the GPU get power?

Are you using any molex to pcie adapters? Those can cause issues at times though I've never heard of them causing you to not even load. You may just have a faulty card. I'd suggest RMA'ing it.

I sold the GTX 570 about 2 weeks ago and have been using the onboard graphics on my motherboard while i waited for this one to arrive. The fans on the GPU power up and the motherboard beeps like always, then after that all I see is a sort of lit up but still black screen.

The display cord is in the GPU. and the 6 pin and 8 pin connectors are plugged in.

I am not using any molex to pcie adapters

This is what my PCI-E adapters look like - http://techreport.com/r.x/psus-0907/pcie-connectors.jpg

OK you need to swap back over to on board graphics and use Nvidia's driver installer and uninstall OLD drivers first. this causes the exact issue you are seeing right now. I have seen it many time before. you need to wipe old drivers then shut down and reinstall GPU and swap over to GPU out put Next restart system. IF there is still no display then the GPU is bad. IF you get the display then you just reinstall the drivers.

EDIT: couldn't hurt to uninstall the onboard drivers either.

this way does not uninstall the driver but removes the control center. IF you use the installer then it will ask if you want to do a clean install or uninstall old drivers. this is the preferred way. But you can use Driver Fusion from Trexxy to uninstall both at the same time. it is a neat little program that you can use for free.

Okay, because i didnt have the installer, i couldnt install the installer because I need to have an nvidia GPU for it to detect when it does its compatibility check, if it doesnt find one i just have to quit the installer.

unless you buy the full version it will leave a few registry entry's behind and nothing to worry about. just tell it ok and keep going. If you are using win 7 or newer you need to use driver fusion. If you use Driver sweeper it will remove part of windows that becomes just a hassle to reinstall. it is done through either an update or a system scan. Just easier to use driver fusion. for win 7 and newer.
