gtx 780 ti classified kingpin question

Quick question here. I realize the kingpin version is specifically meant for extreme liquid nitrogen benchmarking. I'm also not asking if its better than the standard ti classified. I'm wondering if there would be a difference between the ti classified or the kingpin on normal ek water blocks alone. Same system, same cooling, just one card or the other. Basically I'm curious if the benefits of paying extra for a kingpin truly only kick in on liquid nitrogen cooling, or if maybe the kingpin would be slightly better than the ti classified with ek blocks.

The GPUs on those Kingpin cards are specially culled. They are the very best performing, most overclockable chips they can find. You should be able to overclock them substantially. As to whether it's worth the extra money, I don't know . . . there will always be faster cards coming out.

My guess is that the kingpin edition will have a better binned chip that can oc higher.

If budget is not an issue, go ahead.

But... the incremental performance above an already superb card do not seem to be worth it.

I didn't realize the kingpin had better chips. I thought the classifieds were already binned. Even so, I'm guessing there's just not much of a difference for everyday use or gaming, just max overclocking.

Video card vendors are wise to overclocking. They bin their chips, and the better ones go in factory overclocked cards that can sell at a better price. One could get lucky with a base card, but no guarantee.
In general, a factory superclocked card is a decent value.
At the very top , perhaps not so much so.

What is your use scenario? There really isn't that much of a difference with regular gaming performance between any of the 780 ti cards. They are all really fast. If you are really into pushing things, the Classified might make sense (maybe), but you'll still get a very fast card if you go with the Superclocked version. You'd primarily be looking to overclock for the sake of overclocking with a Kingpin. It's just not practical for the price if used for anything else.
