GTX 780 vs GTX 780Ti vs R9 290X

I'm looking for a new graphics card for a new system build. Originally I wanted a 780 but I"m waiting on the release of the others to compare.

I will be doing a lot of video editing and 3d graphic design as well as gaming.

Comments, ideas and thoughts are all welcome!

The 780ti we wont know for sure until its release, but the R9-290x beats the 780 and should trade blows with the 780ti. If you are building this system now, get the R9 if you are waiting anyway, you can decide once the ti is benchmarked.

The thing is the 780ti is the same old GK110 with mature drivers, the 290x Hawaii is brand new with lots of potential.

The 290x is held back by heat right now, sure the chip is resilient taking 94c no problem, seems to love volts too. Wait for aftermarket cooling.

Early to mid next year by best hopes, but like above, its an old architecture. The aftermarket coolers which should be releasing soon will help the R9 greatly.

Agree heavily. I'm waiting for swifttech to make 290X komdo waterblock's. then it's time for crossfire 290X under eater

Okay but in terms of 3d software and rendering... Which is better? I know the titan features double precision etc.. More cuda cores.

How does the r9 290x fare?
