The gtx 950 and a gtx 960 has a cost difference of £40 ($60)in the uk, is it worth it because most gtx 950 reviews/benchmark vids have comments like, 'just buy a gtx 960' (100likes) so should i save a bit more and buy a gtx 960? will it have better price for performance than a gtx 950?

The performance you can get with a well overclocked 960 is undeniably good!

With the performance difference between the new GTX 950 and our GTX 960s, it’s impossible to recommend the latter over the former at this point. The only real benefit you get from a 960 would come from 4GB of on-board memory, which might help at even higher resolutions in SLI."

What are your current spces?

The GTX 960 tends to beat the 950 by ~15% in the benchmarks that I've seen, but that 15% can be the difference between 52fps and 60fps and that 4gb of Vram will help you in the future. the GTX 960 also tends to run cooler and quieter than the GTX 950, although it takes up more power.
The R9 380 tends to beat the GTX 960 by ~25%, but it's hotter,louder, and takes up more power.
The r9 380 should cost about the same as the GTX 960.
